Which computer programming language should I learn?

I've learned the basics of many programming languages(Mostly online things such as java, php, asp, html, but some others - Visual Basic and C++). What I want to do is do some freelance work as a programmer in my spare time. I figured the best way to do this would be to Master 1 of the languages. I was thinking Java seems to have a bright future? Anyways any advice or help with this is much appreciated.

  1. It depends what you want to develop. For web development Java, C# and Visual Basic.NET are good (the last 2 use ASP.NET). C++ is more to do with offline applications, which are still popular, but there are a growing number of online applications. Visual Basic.NET and C# can also do offline applications. I'm currently learning C# because it can do online and offline apps, is easy to use, and is very similar to Javascript.
  2. It's better to learn Java,Because Java is ever green .It is king of all the technologies.By this you can do both offline and online applications.
